What You Get Is What You Want

Intro

Internet is filled with loads of information and websites provide content with the hope they might interest people. Yet, won't Internet be far more efficient and effective as an information source, if users themselves can choose what they really want to be published and access when they want to?

Websoic is an open source tool based on Drupal which will help online information accessing and gathering easier and relevant. It is a collection of built-in aggregator, classifier, filter, presenter and syndication generator.

1. You can immediately start reading the items
2. You can start with recent items or you might be better off with only few most-viewed items
3. You may also want to read only from few topics such as News and Sports, and others like DIY and Work can wait for a now.
4. You may also want to subscribe to your chosen items (through RSS feeds > RSS feed builder).
5. You may also want to comment on the items, read other's comments and even subscribe to them.
6. You may also register for a free account and add your own feeds instantly, so that you can read the items only from the feeds you added.

Anyone can access content, subscribe to them via feeds, comment and rate. Also features like faceted browsing is open for guest user.

To gain access to more features like bookmarking, and maintain your own queue you will have to register for a FREE account. However you can login with your Facebook account or any Drupal affliated accounts such as drupal.org account.

Currently it the service in private beta and you will need privileges to add your own feed. If you are interested please drop a mail at (beta AT websoic DOT com) and we will give upgrade your account for FREE.

You can subscribe to a full post, teaser or only for chosen topics / authors / sources. You can use any readers including web readers such as Google reader to subscribe to.

If you are using Google reader, you are welcome to share your public shared items with us in return (by adding the feed), however in that case, please DO NOT SHARE Websoic feed (you can subscribe) with Google reader as it will create an infinite loop and disrupt the services.

If you do so we will be forced to ban the account.

Websoic is to bring you the most relevant content, by allowing you to choose not only by whose posts you are subscribing to, but also what topics you want to read.

Going On 10, Boy Going For Fifth Microsoft Certifi ...

Say Hello to Marko Calasan. He's nine years old and lives in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He's also Microsoft Certified four times over and working on his fifth certificate. (And he prefers Bing.)

This is the type of story that warms your heart but also makes you feel a little bad about yourself. Why? Because still in his single digits, Marko is more computer literate than many of us will ever be. Here he describes his first memories of using a computer:

But my first memory is from when I was approximately 3 years old when I was making simple actions like personalizing Windows, then installing Windows, making remote desktop connections with workstations and servers on remote locations, and so on.

As someone who still struggles to get remote desktop working, that hurts. But still, good for the little guy, who has earned four certificates—MCP, MCDST, MCSA and MCSE—and is going for his fifth to become a Microsoft Certified Trainer. When asked about his plans for the next ten years, Calasan said he hoped to write Windows 7 instructional books for users of all levels. He also said that Bing is his preferred search engine.

When asked if he preferred Windows or OSX, Calasan held back from indulging his literal inner fanboy, explaining, "For everyone, the choice is different, so for me I use Windows because I am satisfied with its security, stability, scalability, productivity and many other good advantages of the Microsoft Windows operating system."

That diplomatic reponse to the enduring operating system debate might be an even more impressive display of precociousness than his certificates. [Network World]
